7:11 p.m. – Crowd’s starting to gather again for the 8 p.m. finale.
7:25 p.m. – Nickname of the day: Kendra Kregal is “Bird.” Don’t know why.
7:28 p.m. – Bird just scored. Maquoketa Valley leads, 27-23, 4:08 left in the third.
7:30 p.m. – I figured Springville would have a huge crowd advantage against MFL MarMac. Not so fast. Bulldogs supporters are lining the north side.
7:33 p.m. – North Linn ties it, then Bird scored five in a row to put the Wildcats up 32-27.
7:42 p.m. – There’s just no stopping Bird. Two more baskets in the fourth quarter. Wildcats lead 36-29, 5:28 to go.
7:45 p.m. – Kim Muhl sighting.
7:46 p.m. – Another Bird basket. 38-29. It’s an 11-2 run.
7:57 p.m. – Maquoketa Valley stretches it to 43-33, 1:22 to go.
8:05 p.m. – Wildcats win 46-38. All hail Bird. She scored 19 of her 23 points in the second half.
