Another Friday, another night at Armstrong

Usually, Friday night is a night of travel, somewhere to the remote areas of Eastern Iowa for an Area Game of the Week.

But we’re a bit short-handed, the Dubuque Telegraph-Herald has generously agreed to help us with our GOW (Beckman at Cascade), and I’m at Armstrong Field for Dubuque Senior (0-2) and Linn-Mar (0-2).

No “Game of the Weak” references. I promise.

It’s sprinkling, a precursor to the rainstorm that’s supposed to sit on us through the weekend. But the 35-point continuous-clock rule is in effect for the sophomore game. And it’s not homecoming. Two good things.

Linn-Mar is riding a 24-game losing streak. The last win was Sept. 30, 2005, a 24-14 decision over Cedar Rapids Jefferson.

The Lions have a nice passing game, though, and if the rain doesn’t intensify, it will be effective tonight.

The pick: Lions, 27-13.
