Rivalry Saturday boys’ basketball field set

Four returning state qualifiers, including Class 1A state champion Cedar Falls NU High, are part of the 12-team field at the Rivalry Saturday boys’ basketball field Jan. 17, 2009, at the U.S. Cellular Center.

It’s a much better field than that of last year. But it’s going to run late, up to 10:30 p.m. or later.

The schedule:

Noon — North Cedar vs. Lisbon

1:45 p.m. — Union vs. NU High

3:30 p.m. — Mediapolis vs. Highland

5:15 p.m. — Marion vs. Independence

7 p.m. — Solon vs. Mount Vernon

8:45 p.m. — Linn-Mar vs. Cedar Rapids Xavier

I’ve called Scot Moenck several times to get a girls’ schedule. He hasn’t called back.
