They’re substate qualifiers

It’s different crunching the numbers this year, but I think seven teams from area conferences/districts have wrapped up substate berths.

In Class 4A, Iowa City High (6-0) is most definitely in. At 5-1, Cedar Falls, Cedar Rapids Prairie and Cedar Rapids Washington are logically in the scene as well.

Both of the top two teams in Class 3A District 4 — DeWitt Central (6-0, 4-0) and Union (6-0, 4-0) have wrapped up berths.

Maquoketa Valley (4-2, 4-0) has a berth sewn up in Class 1A District 4.

I think the rest of the unbeaten-in-district teams can join them with wins this Friday.

Huh??? How could you say that Union has “wrapped up berth” when they had to play Marion and will play Central DeWitt next week. Looks to me like you may have jumped the gun a little. As for DeWitt excellent team, deserves to be in the play-offs, just wish Marion could have played them later in the season (this year anyway). GO BIG RED!!!

A said that Union has “wrapped up a berth” because Union has wrapped up a berth. Top four teams qualify. DeWitt Central is in. Union is in. Marion is in. Fourth berth is to be determined.
