Drake 68, Alford 62

It’s off on a tangent, off the beaten path of preps.

This was a third-place game at the Cancun Invitational. We got a score only: Drake 68, New Mexico 62.

But it’s still worth noting, because it’s so sweet.

I was hoping for a first-round NCAA matchup between Drake and New Mexico last year, but the Lobos failed to live up to their end of the bargain.

Any time The Coach Formerly Known as Wonder Boy takes an “L,” it’s a good thing. When it happens from the hands of Drake, triply so.

I really try to be a positive person but when it comes to the golden boy….rules change. I stayed up Saturday night to watch NM play VCU and so glad that he is gone from Iowa. Painful to watch. And no way Drake should have beat them. Outcoached again.

I’ve never been so glad to see a coach go. New Mexico will feel the same way in about a year.
