Trouble at Tipton?

They’re holding their breath at Tipton.

Missy Miller, the area’s leading scorer at 22.7 points per game, injured her knee in the Tigers’ 62-40 win over Calamus-Wheatland on Saturday. Her father, Darren, said a diagnosis is pending.

The younger sister of 2007 Gazette Female Athlete of the Year Ashley Miller, Missy is one of the frontrunners to capture the 2009 award. She was the 2A state cross country runner-up in November and (if healthy) is projected to be one of the area’s best track competitors in the spring.

She is shooting 64 percent from the field and is averaging 6.0 rebounds, 4.7 steals and 2.9 assists per game.

With Miller, the Tigers (7-0) are a lock to win the Cedar Valley Conference and a threat to advance deep into the 2A state tournament. Without her, they’re merely another good team.
