Sensory overload

Sights and sounds at Linn-Mar’s 50-31 win over Cedar Rapids Washington in girls’ basketball Thursday night at Washington:

Cedar Rapids Kennedy’s Jade Rogers was wearing a red Linn-Mar T-shirt. On the back was inscribed “Printy 24.” Rogers and Jaime Printy will be teammates at the University of Iowa in two years.

Former Washington player and University of Maryland coach Brenda Frese was in attendance (as was sister Marsha Frese). Brenda received a Washington blanket and T-shirts for her 11-month-old twins.

The most common sound of the night: Clang. The teams combined to shoot 25 of 110, a rate of 22.7 percent.

Second most common sound of the night: Kiah Stokes slapping the ball out of the air. Stokes compiled 16 points, 20 rebounds and 16 blocked shots.

Brenda Frese was talking to Linn-Mar Coach Mike Brandt afterward. Probably not a coincidence.

Must have been something in the air. The Orioles shot 15 out of 52 from the floor…It seemed at times like there was a force field around the basket!

I did notice Brenda taking notes last night.
