Tipton High School senior Missy Miller signed a national letter of intent today to compete in track and field at the University of Iowa.
Miller was a four-time state relay champion, earning a pair of gold medals in the 3,200-meter relay, one in the distance medley and one in the shuttle hurdle.
She was a 12-event state qualifier and 10-time state placewinner. She was a member of two state-title teams in track and two in cross country.
Miller holds school records in the high jump (5-7) and the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.45). She suffered a torn ACL on Jan. 3, an injury that ended her basketball season — she was averaging 22.7 points per game — and will prevent her from competing in track this spring. Prior to the injury, she was the 2A state cross country runner-up last fall.
She’s the younger sister of Ashley Miller, a 15-time state track champion who is competing in track and cross country at Nebraska.
