It was another textbook triumph, 71-47, at Cedar Rapids Jefferson for the unbeaten, Class 4A top-ranked Lions. But the focus now is the little things.
“We talked about a lot of things,” said Lions Coach Mike Brandt. “We can’t be satisfied. We want to do the right thing on each possession. We discussed the future and what we’re trying to accomplish.”
The Lions (20-0 overall, 15-0 Mississippi Valley Conference) have an opportunity to do something significant in the next four weeks. They don’t intend to let it slide.
“Twenty-and-oh … it means a lot, but it doesn’t mean anything,” said all-state guard Jaime Printy. “What we’re working for is still to come. Winning the last game, that’s all that matters to us.”
Linn-Mar delivered a knockout blow in the first half, taking a 36-14 lead into the locker room, and won by 20-plus points for the 14th time this season.
Kiah Stokes converted 12 of 13 field-goal attempts — her only miss came early — and finished with 26 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks.
