CEDAR RAPIDS — All projects at Kingston Stadium “are on or ahead of schedule,” according to Matt Dunbar, associate director of human resources for Cedar Rapids Community Schools.

“The projects need to be done by Aug. 2, and they’re all on target. Some will be completed early, barring any unforeseen delays,” Dunbar said.

Wednesday at Kingston, the west half of the field is covered by a black membrane that will serve as a flat drainage tile, with rock smoothed over the top.

Workers poured cement on the inside of the track. A public restroom is taking shape above the stadium on the northwest side. Another will be constructed on the northeast side.

All of the parts are ready for installation of the light towers.

“We’ll start assembling the poles and lights this week,” Dunbar said.

Field Turf installation is projected to begin in June and completed in early July.

Cedar Rapids Washington Athletics Director Paul James estimated the final price tag at $2.7 million. The first football game next season is Aug. 27.
